Consortium System Safety Manager – Riyadh Metro Project – Siemens AG

Project Overview
As a member of BACS consortium we are responsible for the design and build of Lines 1 and 2 of the Riyadh Metro network. These two lines will form part of the six-line metro system that will run for a total length of 176 kilometers across the city and includes 85 stations.

What are my responsibilities?
Ensuring the Consortium develops a System Plan in line with the system safety strategy.
Ensuring that the Transit System & CWJV team implements system safety activities including hazard identification & risk assessment to provide assurance of safety in design.
Developing and maintaining a Consortium Hazard Log.

What do I need to qualify for this job?
University degree (Dipl. Eng, B Eng. Or higher) in an engineering related subject, preferably with a railway or system safety specialization.
A minimum of 10 years applied system safety case experience including at least 5 years on major engineering projects in the railway industry.
Experience of utilizing current hazard analysis and safety risk management methodologies.
Work effectively with Client organization with discretion and diplomacy and be able to influence outcomes with good judgment and decision making.
Operate under the minimum of supervision and apply high standards of integrity and responsibility.
Create and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
Encourage and enable teams to perform effectively.
Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders and negotiate effectively in formal settings involving multiple stakeholders.
Set own target within overall project objectives and be through, conscientious and hard-working.
Communicate effectively to ensure that the system safety and Safety Case requirements are understood by the project and that Client acceptance of the Design and Final Safety Case Submission is obtained within the constraints of limited timescales.

Issuing a Design Safety Case at the end of the Design phase.
Ensuring that evidence is provided to the client confirming that the define safety requirements have been met by the civil infrastructure and transit system.
Issuing Final Safety Cases for Line 1 and Line 2.
Maintain the Consortium System Safety Plan and Procedures.
Ensure the developments and issue the Consortium level Design and Final Safety Cases.
Define the requirements for the Transit and CWJV System Safety Cases and review Safety Cases submitted by the CWJV and Transit system & sub-systems.
Ensure that the Consortium Hazard Log is maintained.
