Duties and Responsibilities:
general contract administrator duties as an integral part of the Project team with emphasis on sub contract and downstream management;
review all incoming correspondence from subcontractors and, where appropriate, suppliers and draft appropriate responses for review and issue by project management;
negotiation of suitable subcontract terms and preparation of sub contract documentation in line with existing subcontract framework for review and issue with potential to develop and improve, if necessary, that framework;
analyse, consider and respond to Subcontractor variation requests and delay claims;
advise and provide input, where necessary, into the upstream contract administration process by way of ensuring that subcontractor variation/claims notifications and/or any other issue are notified under the head contract to the Employer;
assist with the development and implementation of a credible, robust and fair back charge regime in respect of downstream accounts and, if appropriate, ensure notice requirements are identified upstream flowing from the issues identified.
periodically review the maintenance of appropriate site records by subcontractors to support a delay and disruption or any other claim at some point in the future to the Employer if required;
administration and monitoring of subcontract bonds, warranties and insurances as appropriate;
other tasks as directed relevant to the role.
Degree qualified and/or professional qualification (or actively working towards) Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) / Chartered Builder (MCIOB) / Member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) or similar
Experience / Requirements:
Minimum age around 35 and 15 years relevant experience working in a construction related business with a bias towards contracting, preferably on larger projects valued in excess of US$500m. Would not consider candidates with consultant only experience.
Previous international experience essential, Middle East experience preferred.
Good command of written English and letter writing skills essential.
Good understanding of, and exposure to, contracts essential.
General commercial awareness from the Main Contractor’s perspective.
